is to re-write the US Constitution.

Iceland is rewriting theirs. http://www.popsci.com/technology/article/2011-06/iceland-crowdsourcing-suggestions-its-new-constitution-web
So the first question has to be, whatta you know about the Constitution? Chances are really good you know very little about it.
Take 'em, leave 'em or modify 'em?
Which brings a corollary question - If you don't know about it, what makes you think you can re-write it? But disregard that question. I want to know what you would write into the Constitution and why, what you'd leave and why and what you'd take out and why.

I'll give you an electronic hand. Here's a copy of one of the versions of the Constitution. http://www.archives.gov/exhibits/charters/constitution_transcript.html No, that was not a typo. This is a copy of one of the versions circulated to the states and approved by the states. Not all states got exactly the same copy.

Here's a starter, a few onerous provisions some folks would like to tinker with:
Bust a move on the Bills.

If you are born in the US, you are a natural citizen.

Term limits on the president.

Slavery (never mind it was later abolished, it's in the original).

Free speech.

Establishment of religion. Aye, here's a bit o' the Constitution that SOOOO many people get wrong.

The Second Amendment. That's the one which means I can gave a gun. You can have a gun too, provided you are not stupid and lost your civil rights.

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Now lemme also point you to some things NOT in the Constitution. http://www.usconstitution.net/constnot.html#other Some of these may surprise you. Some may offend you. Some you may know.

The question remains, what would you include, remove or amend?

As you ponder this, I remind you that what you seek to do the Constitution will apply to you. If you have any sense at all, that should scare you beyond measure. For those who are not scared, I shan't say anything else.

Gimme your ideas. Then I'll try to give you examples of how that stuff can be applied in ways that just might horrify you.
