Can the idea of "karma" be proven empirically? I doubt it. But that doesn't stop many people from believing in it.

I rather think karma is often the end result of personal stupidity, but that's just a personal opinion and observation based on decades of watching other people. Robert Ferrell once likened me to "an old cigar chomping newspaper editor and astute observer of the human condition" or something like that.

Anyway, you can also put it - What goes around, comes around.

Or, as my brother sometimes puts it, "don't complain about the worm sandwich when you opened the can."

Lemme put it another way - "you set the rules and I'll play by them."

What happens when the other side plays by your rules and wins?

I hate it when that happen
How about it? How many times has someone played by your rules and still beat you?

How'd you react?
Sure, sometimes we laugh it off and chalk one up to experience. That's easy to do on things that don't really matter to us.

But. What if it is something really important? So important that we twist the rules to make the other side a a guaranteed loser. And they win anyway.

Not pleasant is it? Downright annoying. HOW DARE THEY DO IT MY WAY AND WIN ANYWAY!

Pretty confusing concept. Lemme see if I can simplify by dipping briefly in polyticks.

Shrub II (the second Bush) was president.

Shrub II wanted to make some presidential appointments the Damnocrats objected to. He waited until Congress adjourned and made "recess appointments" or tried to anyway.

Damnocrat Sinator Harry Reid created the idea of sending in on sinator each day to whop the gavel. He said technically Congress was still in session. So, Budya could not make recess appointments, cause Congress was not in recess.

Reboobicans objected massively. Didn't do any good.
SS - DD

Now with Reboobicans are trying the same thing, having someone whop the gavel to say Congress is still in session. They are trying to thwart Damnocrat efforts.

The wheel of Karma (also known as stupidity in this case) has come full circle. And it's passed full circle.

The current president is making "recess" appointments. Apparently it was not legal for a Reboobican president to this, but it is OK for a Damnocrat president to do this.

The next time we elect a Reboobican to office, a precedent has been set. Damnocrats can holler all they want to about "recess appointments" but they did it.

Karma.

What goes around will come back and beat you to a pulp.

Now most of us, and I include myself in this, will not accept the blame. We'll do everything we can to turn it around on the others. "There's no way they could have succeeded by MY rules unless they cheated, lied, or did something equally unethical or illegal."

Never mind we know logically that we are at fault. Emotionally we can't accept that.

Being human, emotions control us far more than logic.

Emotional acceptance matters a lot more.

And karma is indifferent. It's going to clobber anyone who gets in the way.
